カタログ・・Mayrick Types of Microlepidoptera in the British Museum Clarke

極めて多くの蛾類の新種記載をした世界で最も著名な鱗翅目の分類学者であるMayrickは、同定に当たって交尾器を切っていませんでした。そこでMayrickの残した大英博物館の収蔵標本の交尾器を解剖して世界で最初に図示したのが本著です。
今回出品するのは1955年から1970年の16年にわたって刊行された８刊のセットです。
本書はその後の分類学の進展に多大な貢献をしました。

当方、20年くらいまえにイギリスより取り寄せ購入しました。17位で、高くても必要だからと購入した記憶があります。
その後、同定するには重宝し、記載も多くできました。

もう、虫活も終活に移行中です。
このカタログを使ってもらい、また蛾類に新たな発展があることを願います。
