イギリス人アーティスト、ジャック・デイヴィソン（Jack Davison）の作品集。2007年から継続して制作するイメージを用いた実験の成果を1つのシリーズとしてまとめている。独学で写真を学んだ作者は、画家が絵を描くように直観や天性の感覚に従い、日常に埋没したシュールで官能的なものを掘り起こすような写真を撮る。明暗を強調することで絵に深みを出す表現技法「キアロスクーロ（明暗法）」や、意味を曖昧にすることや逆に隠された意味を明らかにすることもできる写真の力が、そのユニークで巧妙なアプローチにおいて存分に生かされている。反転し水面下に沈んだ世界のようなそのイメージは、明快で鮮明なディテールが立ち現れたかと思えば、蜃気楼のようにかき消えていく。まるで揺れ動く振り子のようである。濃い陰影とタイトなフレーミングを特徴とする本作は、紛れもなく映画的な美意識で貫かれている。
